Welcome to New King's Road School.

We are a friendly and supportive primary school at the centre of our local community. Our children are happy and settled here.  In 2023, we retained our Ofsted 'Good' rating and in September 2025, we became part of the Quality First Education Trust. In September 2026, we will be changing our name from Thomas's Academy to New King's Road School. We believe in providing an excellent education for all.

School Tours

Attending a school tour is a great way to find out more about our school. We offer regular small group tours for parents and carers throughout the year. To find out more and book your place, please visit our School Tours page

When should I apply?

Children start Reception in the academic year (September to August) that they have their 5th birthday. You should apply for a Reception place by mid-January of the year that your child starts in Reception in September.

Applications for Reception places for September 2027 (for children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023) should be made via the local authority of the borough in which you live, even if you are applying for a school that is not in that borough.

Applications through Hammersmith & Fulham Council will open on Thursday 1 September 2026 and will close on Friday 15 January 2027. The national offer date for on-time Reception applications for September 2027 is 16 April 2027. Further details about the application process are available on their website.

If you missed the deadline for September 2026 and are interested in a place, you can still put in an application through Hammersmith & Fulham Council to be added to a waiting list. If you have any queries, you can contact the Council on school.admissions@lbhf.gov.uk or 020 8753 1085.

Change to Admissions Arrangements for 2027-28

The Quality First Education (Q1E) Trust recently consulted on a proposed change to the admission arrangements for New King's Road School (formerly Thomas's Academy), to remove priority given to current Nursery pupils for Reception places and to to give priority to the children of staff at the school (after siblings of current pupils.) The consultation closed on 30 January 2026 and the trust board considered all responses. The Trust has now made this change for Reception entry in September 2027 and beyond. Our hope is that this change will support our families and make our admissions policy easier to understand.

You can download our consultation document for full details of the proposal that was adopted.
