Welcome to our Nursery
Thank you for your interest in the Nursery at New King’s Road School. We are a friendly and supportive school at the centre of our local community. Our children are happy and settled here. In 2023, we retained our Ofsted 'Good' rating and in September 2025, we became part of the Quality First Education Trust. In September 2026, we changed our name to New King's Road School (from Thomas's Academy). We believe in providing an excellent education for all.
Our Nursery provides a safe and nurturing environment which allows your child to develop in all areas of their learning and independence. We believe that with this support, children will be best placed to go on to reach their full potential as they move into primary education.
What do you offer?
Our Nursery is 39 Full-Time Equivalent (39FTE) and we offer full time and part time places.

Each September, Thomas's Academy enrols children aged 3 into the Nursery. If there are places available in January, further enrolments take place. Children are eligible to start Nursery in the term AFTER their third birthday.
What does it cost?
All children aged three and four are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education. An additional 15 free hours are available to parents who meet the criteria. For a child to access five full-time days over the week, we ask that parents spend their full childcare allocation with us. Parents who are not eligible for the 30-hour code and require a full-time place will be charged for the additional 15 hours. The charge is £150 per week, which will be billed termly and calculated according to the number of days the nursery is open each term, not on the child's attendance.
Lunch and Wraparound Care
Full-time children, and those part-time children who stay for full days can have a school dinner at a cost of £3.10 per day. This is paid through the Teacher2Parents app.
Wraparound Care is offered onsite (8am - 8.45am and 3.15pm - 6pm) for a further charge. Bookings are made via Teachers2Parents and information can be found here.

How do I apply for a place?
Children start Nursery in the academic year (September to August) that they have their 4th birthday.
To apply for a Nursery place, you need to complete the online application form and return it to the School Office by email or in person.
The closing date for applications for September 2026 places was Friday 6 February 2026. Please note: We are continuing to accept applications for 2026-27 and in year admissions. The closing date for September 2027 will be early February 2027.
